Who says letters and words can't be visually appealing?

For almost 20 years, graphic designer and illustrator Ji Lee has literally transformed words into images. His project, titled Word As Image, drastically changes how we see words.

Words are associated with our thoughts, and upon reading we immediately think about its practical functionality and picture the letters in our heads. In his artworks, Lee applied that same picturing process and reimagined them as beautiful and pun-ny illustrations.

What started as a school project in his typography class at art school has now become one of his most well-known works, which is focused on visualizing the definition of a certain word using only the graphic elements of the letters.
