The brother of Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista tested positive for the use of illegal drugs in a test conducted earlier this month.
According to a report from the Inquirer, Bautista disclosed to city officials on Wednesday that his brother, Councilor Hero Bautista, tested positive for shabu and marijuana.
At least three officials who attended confirmed Bautista’s announcement during an executive committee meeting, Philstar reported.
Bautista will apparently have his brother undergo both drug and spiritual counseling. He also vowed not to use his influence to protect Hero.
Under Quezon City’s rules, Councilor Bautista will either undergo guidance counseling or be required to take a drug rehabilitation program for six months. Mayor Bautista will also be responsible for the sanctions that will be applied to his brother.
