In simple terms, our country easily has the most prominent mail and messenger users in all of Southeast Asia.

And so imagine how many Pinoys will rejoice when they find out that Yahoo is now launching the all-new versions of Yahoo Mail Beta and Yahoo Messenger in the Philippines.

Both are poised to be the faster, easier, and more socially rewarding version of the previous ones.

The new versions have their fair share of quality changes, all the same making sure Yahoo Mail classic users are not alienated. The improvements are endless, starting off with the 10 most significant ones:

1. Mail is now made for speed. Many countries are now experiencing at least twice the speed than previous versions of Yahoo Mail, courtesy of a re-architected mail engine. Less loading, more productive online communications, and a lightning speed performance – the ultimate web convenience.

2. Cleaner look and feel. Yahoo Mail Beta makes it easier to navigate and organize their inboxes, courtesy of a much sleeker interface. The same look and feel can be seen in Yahoo Mail’s mobile and tablet versions, serving the purpose of your organizer.

 3. Reiterating the unlimited storage feature. Making sure that every user’s personal archive of emails, photos and videos are readily available whenever and wherever needed, the Beta version makes good use of the unlimited storage feature this time around.

4. Mail search refinements. Upon conducting a Mail search, a left-hand refinement column appears, allowing users to easily navigate, sort, and narrow the search results by sender, attachment file, date, and folder location.

5. The safest webmail worldwide. Yahoo Mail Beta also happens to commit itself in protecting users from the ever-hassling effects of mail spam, generating 55% less spam than other mail providers we have today. All 243 million users, scanned and protected daily.

6. Staying in the social network. The new Beta will now allow people to view and share updates from the likes of Facebook and Twitter. The new Yahoo Messenger will now accommodate Facebook chat, as long as friends with FB accounts are online.

7. YM’s got new games. Users can now play famous social games from publishers such as Zynga, Elex, and OMGPOP. Sharing game activities and status is also possible, letting friends know your game progress and allowing them to join in as well.

8. Enriched IM experiences on Android. Yahoo Messenger for Android apps allows users to make video calls from Android devices, as long as there is a Wi-Fi network to their Messenger friends list. Sharing photos and videos using this Yahoo app is also possible.

9. Inline photo and video viewing. The new automatic slideshow features allow users to easily view photos from sites like Flickr, Picasa, and YouTube from within their email messages, stirring clear of multiple window pop-ups.

10. Staying connected simultaneously. Yahoo Messenger users can now stay signed in to multiple PCs simultaneously, making it possible to receive messages even if your YM account is opened somewhere else.
