Hooray for NBA stars joining our Pinoy basketbolistas! After Brooklyn Nets center and our new kababayan Andray Blatche, it’s Minnesota Timberwolves' power forward Kevin Love's turn to go NoyPi!
For NBA noobs: Kevin Love is the first player in NBA history to record 2,000 points, 900 rebounds, and 100 three-pointers in a single season.
But wait, kalma lang, bro. He won't become a naturalized Filipino citizen like Andray, instead Kevin will fly here to play with PBA, UAAP, and NCAA stars for the Master Game Face Challenge at the Araneta Coliseum this Saturday, June 21! Click here to get tickets now!
The Master Game Face Challenge is the biggest all-star basketball game in the country. After originally just featuring the nation's best collegiate players, this year aims to be bigger with PBA stars and some guest players from the US joining the fray.
Guest players—that’s right! Kevin will be accompanied by slam dunkers from the US (whoever they are, it’s a surprise!). The 2012 NBA Three-Point Shootout champion will also hold his own basketball clinic at the Manila Boystown in Marikina City and lead a charity auction at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel during his stay.
So who are the lucky Pinoys who will get to play with the three-time NBA All-Star? Scroll down!
In this corner, we have Team Chris, led by team captain Chris "Kagat Labi" Tiu!
In his team are Jeff Chan, Ranidel de Ocampo, Alex Nuyles, Jimmy Alapag, Jeron Teng, Kevin Ferrer, Chris Newsome, and Mark Cruz, among others. We see a lot of rainmakers in this lineup!
Chris hammed it up with his opposing coach/poster boy, Mark "Pinoy Sakuragi" Pingris, as he drafts Ranidel in his team. We all know how close Pingirs and Ranidel are. They sobbed side by side after Gilas Pilipinas defeated South Korea at last year's FIBA-Asia semifinal!
Also playing under Team Chris is Jimmy Alapag, who had his share of #puso moments with Pingri as well. Hey Chris, you're breaking our national team apart!
But alas, the players at Team Marc are just as dangerous as its fearless leader. There's Jeric Teng, Gary David, Larry Fonacier, Mark Barroca, Jared Dillinger, Cliff Hodge, Paul Artadi, Andre Paras, and Mike Cortez, just to name a few.
Don't be fooled by their innocent mugs—Barroca is a former PBA Finals MVP and a three-peat champion with the San Mig Coffee Mixers.
Marc shows off his massive tattoo in front of his teammates just to remind them who the team captain is. His angas is unlike anything we've ever seen, and that's a good thing.
