The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will begin cracking down on motorists who “post and boast” or the practice of bragging about committing a road violation and posting it online.
According to LTO Director Francis Almora, motorists who post and boast possibly face two violations, CNN Philippines reports.
“One violation if it’s just plain driving above the speed limit it will be simply disregarding the traffic sign. But if it is already endangerment of others then we cite them for reckless driving,” he said.
Almora explained that the post of those who do this will be considered an admission of the violation.
“Both of these violations, we can use their own admission against them. So for those people that are bragging about this you have to take notice you cannot contest the apprehension later on,” he said.
The LTO’s move comes after it received numerous reports of cases where some motorists would brazenly brag about violating road rules, particularly going over the speed limit online.
