The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has deployed special units to catch jaywalkers and litterers along EDSA.

Some 300 personnel from the MMDA's special unit were deployed in strategic areas on Monday including Cubao, Monumento, Ortigas, North EDSA and Taft Avenue, GMA News reported.

Violators will have to pay a P500 fine, or they can choose to render three to eight hours of community service like sewer cleaning instead.

Meanwhile, the Inquirer reported that the payment for the fines can be settled via direct payment in the MMDA office or through a bank deposit at any Metrobank branch.
