Like a scene straight out of The Flash, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) operations were crippled after lightning struck the train system during an evening downpour around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

It was reminiscent of a moment in the famous CW TV series where a malfunctioning advanced particle acccelerator causes the storm that turns forensic specialist Barry Allen into the Scarlet Speedster.

A dashcam footage posted on Facebook showed the bolt from the blue that forced the MRT to a complete stop at the Ortigas area along EDSA.

Transportation spokesperson Cherie Mercado told ABS-CBN News that lightning hit the MRT's catenary cable which disrupted its operations.

No one was hurt during the incident but the affected passengers were asked to walk towards the nearest station.

MRT operations have been back to normal since Monday morning.
