The MRT is like studying, exercise, or condoms – we hate it, but we need it.

As if the overcrowding, nauseating smell, and pre-ride rumbles aren’t enough, its jerky operations recently got 10 passengers injured. If you’re not a follower of the #tanginamoMRT fan club yet, here are the elements that make it so easy for people to hate the train:

Endless lines
Passengers lining up at the Quezon Avenue Station thought there was a Pinoy Big Brother audition when it reached the ABS-CBN compound last March 27.


Lack of system
Where there’s no fixed schedule of train arrival, all elevators are out of order, and 80% of the ticket machines are broken: only in the Philippines.

It’s like a crowded, shitty, and smelly night club, where big dudes block the entrance so that you won't be able to go in. Ano kayo, mga bouncer?

Put on your makeup, trim your nails, and style your hair – just don’t pop your zits in public, for crying out loud.

You know those commuters who carry their baggages as if they’re going straight to NAIA?

Possible fare hike
Are you willing to pay more in exchange for better commuting conditions?

“It’s the new driver’s fault. It’s still safe to ride the MRT,” says the management. Say what you need to say, honchos. It's not like we have the budget to ride a cab to work from now on.
