Earlier today, two MRT-3 cars detached from each other while traversing the railway from Ayala Avenue Station to Buendia Station.

In a now viral post, a passenger was able to capture the scene, sharing it with netizens on social media.

Eksena sa MRT. Umaandar, sabay biglang bitaw ng huling MRT Bus. Yung lahat na lang iniiwan tayo. Letse na yan. Pati MRT nang iiwan. Balikan niyo kami!” Ivan Villegas said.

In an update by Transportation Undersecretary for Rails Cesar Chavez, around 130 to 140 passengers were evacuated ASAP from the two stations. 

MRT-3 has resumed normal operations as of writing.


With the issues that are surrounding the MRT-3 (this happened just two days after a woman fell on the tracks, losing her right arm), everybody is once again questioning the safety of this mode of public transportation.
