The Most Vicious Reactions To Duterte Endorsing Pacquiao For President

When it comes to his so-called successor, President Rodrigo Duterte seems to already have a perfect candidate in mind and it’s not his son or any of his seasoned allies in the political arena.

In his speech during Senator Manny Pacquiao’s 39th birthday bash over the weekend, Duterte began by praising the boxer-turned-politician for his achievements.

“You have brought so much pride and joy to our country for being a world champion in the field of boxing. The determination you have shown and the humility you embody in the midst of glorious triumphs are worthy of emulation by our countrymen,” he said.

Duterte then went on to share the moment when he told the birthday celebrant how he prefers him to become the country’s next chief executive. “Sabi ko sa kanya, one time kami lang dalawang nag-usapYung style mong yan gusto kitang gawing presidentAlam mo kaya mo,’” he recalled.

This isn’t the first time Duterte floated the idea of endorsing Pacquiao’s presidential campaign. He did it twice last year—although more in jest—after the Pinoy ring legend beat a much younger Jessie Vargas and also during Pacquiao’s 38th birthday party where he addressed the celebrant as the “president-to-be.”

Pacquiao first made his ambition for the presidency public back in 2013 though he has remained mum on the topic recently. But as early as now, netizens are already voicing out their opposition to the Pacquiao for president campaign. Check out these comments on social media:
