A bill filed by Senator Manny Pacquiao that seeks to acknowledge the Holy Bible as one of the country’s main sources of faith and good values has been approved in the Senate.
Under the bill, the last Monday of January will be declared as a special working holiday.
“This bill seeks to boldly emphasize the holiness of the Living Truth by allotting a holiday for its celebration on every last Monday of January which shall be known as “National Bible Day.” This calls for all Christians to altogether unite and celebrate the Holy Bible as the cradle of Christian faith,” the bill’s description read.
Pacquiao, for his part, said he sees this as an opportunity to share the religious book’s teachings, which he thinks would lead to better nation building. “With the continuous increase in the population of Christianity in our country, I believe that the National Bible Holiday would become a catalyst that encourages the development of the moral character and spiritual foundation of every Filipino,” he said.
But not everyone shared Pacquiao’s sentiments. Of course, some sided with the Senator but there’s more negative feedback. See for yourself:
This one agrees though
