The results of the new Social Weather Stations poll released today on presidential performance showed P-Noy's satisfaction rating dropping over 15 percentage points (from +35 in the last quarter of 2014 to +19 in the first quarter of 2015)—and it has everything to do with the botched Mamasapano operation that claimed at least 67 lives last January.
"We are aware that there is significant room for improvement and that we need to continually ascertain the sentiments of our 'bosses,' the Filipino people," Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma told GMA News. Looks like the administration has a lot of "improving" to do.
Given the ratings drop, does this mean Filipinos no longer see Aquino as a credible and capable leader? The numbers certainly suggest that's the case...
While P-Noy will likely never regain the amount of percentage points he lost, he still has the rest of the year to try to turn things around for the better. Things will never be the same, but with the right moves, the President can end his administration with his credibility still intact.
How you intend to do it, kind sir, is up to you.
