He was the very first boxer in sports history to win world titles in seven different weight divisions. He has brought tremendous pride, bringing our country back to the map in exciting fashion.
Surely, a man of Manny Pacquiao’s stature deserves something big of an honor in return.
We just didn’t expect it to come out in a form of a giant Sony 3D Bravia TV. And the, erm, honor of being the first Filipino to own this kind of technology, mind.
Wednesday saw Sony Philippines sign Manny as their newest partner in bringing the 3D World experience closer to Filipinos. The event was held at New World Hotel in Makati.
He will now represent a line of Sony 3D World products that include the Sony 3D Bravia, Sony 3D Blue-Ray player, the Sony NEX-5, and the Sony Playstation.
“Malaking maitu-tulong ng Sony para sa mga darating kong laban lalo na ngayong November 13,” says the 7-time champion. “Ang mapapanood nila ngayon maganda na at hindi na sasakit ang ulo nila.”
We’re thinking it will only be a matter of time before we see our People’s Champ slugging it out live on 3D TV. According to the folks from Sony, that much-awaited awesome moment might be in the works.
Technology in general has gone a long way from the days of the long-forgotten walkman, something Manny himself could remember using back then.
“Mahilig ako sa music kasi kumakanta ako,” he quips. “Ang dati kong dala Sony walkman na tape lang ang nilalagay. Mga 1995 ‘yun.”
That was 15 years ago – Manny has won the belt 7 times and Sony has made a bouquet of new products since then. With the 3D TV, Sony has obviously gone a long way. We think Manny has, too.
