Is A Pacquiao-Mayweather Rematch Really In The Works?

A few days after he announced his intent of finally hanging up his gloves, Manny Pacquiao is once again hogging the headlines.

Although this time around, it might be for an inaccurate reason...

A recent AFP report quoted the Pambansang Kamao of having confirmed being in negotiations with both British boxer Amir Khan and, suprisingly, retired American pugilist Floyd Mayweather for his last career fight.

"I will fight anybody, anywhere. I am going to fight probably before the election. The election is coming next year, May, and before that I will probably have one fight," Manny was also quoted to have said.

But before you get all giddy (a much-deserved shot at redemption) and whiny (proves to be another boring fight), the Pinoy boxing icon's promoter, Bob Arum, promptly swoops in to sort and clear things out.

"I have no idea what he's talking about," Arum told Yahoo Sports. "He said it, not me. But I have had no talks with anyone about that. None. Zero. Not one. Mayweather is retired and I take him at his word. But second, you know there is no way that Mayweather is ever going to fight in the Gulf, even if he did decide to fight again, so it's all (expletive)."

The promoter thinks that it was just an awful case of misunderstanding caused by the language barrier between Pacquiao and the reporter.
