Compared to 2014, which has 19 holidays, 2015 is expected to have at least 20, nine of which are long weekends (so far). The Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines yesterday published Proclamation No.831 declaring 18 holidays for 2015. Two more Muslim holidays (Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha) are expected to be declared in separate proclamations later this year. 

What are the new holidays for 2015? 

1)   Day After New Year (Jan. 2, Friday)

2)   Chinese New Year (Feb. 19, Thursday)

No more pretending that you're Chinese just to be excused from school or work! 

3)   EDSA Revolution Anniversary (Feb. 25, Wednesday)

Yes, we got two official holidays in February next year! In 2014, the EDSA Revolution Anniversary was declared a "holiday for all schools" only, but this coming 2015 it will be a special holiday for everyone! 

But wait, there's more! We also have a six-day loooong weekend stretching from December 30, 2014 to January 4, 2015, and another five-day long weekend from December 30, 2015, to January 3, 2016! We can't wait!
