And just like that, Pope Francis is on a plane and is on his way back to Rome! Sa uulitin, Santo Papa!
His Holiness may have come and gone, but his words and teachings will remain with us forever (hopefully). We’re still reeling from the multitude of emotions we felt during his visit—joy, contrition, and above all, overwhelming gratitude. In fact, we’re so thankful, we decided to make a list of the things we just had to thank Pope Francis (and his entourage) for. Keep scrolling down to read 'em!
Altogether now: "Salamat, Lolo Kiko!"
Thank you, Pope Francis, for giving the PNP, AFP, and MMDA troops a chance to redeem the bad rep they’ve gotten recently by serving you dutifully during your stay in the country. They, along with hundreds of civilian volunteers, did a marvelous job in ensuring the Pope’s safety and making his visit a very successful one. Also, the crime rate was down during the Pope's visit! Can we please make this a daily trend?

Thank you, Pope Francis, for showing us that our politicians still bow to others. They won’t necessarily follow everything you told us, especially that bit about being good public servants and avoiding corruption, but at least you were somewhat able to put the fear of the Lord in them!
Thank you, Pope Francis, for reminding us about the strength of women. The fairer sex may not be as physically able as the menfolk, but they are stronger in many other ways. We hope we’ll be able to take your words to heart and always treat the ladies in our lives with the respect they deserve.

In behalf of the womenfolk, we thank you, Pope Francis, for briefly sharing your spotlight with the many pogi seminarians and religious bros in the Philippines, like this handsome psalmist:

The women in our lives say "Amen!"
Thank you, Pope Francis, for reminding us of the importance of our families. The message you gave to the families last Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena had us wishing we could run to our parents and give them big hugs. We’ll do our best to be better fathers, brothers, and children from this day on.

Thank you, Pope Francis, for uniting us in a record-breaking crowd of six million people for your Holy Mass at Luneta. Getting #blessed while breaking world records—that’s how we do it in the Philippines!

Can he host all the big televised events from now on?
Thank you, Pope Francis, for making us all cry like giant sniveling babies while “Tell The World Of His Love” was playing at the end of the mass. Fellas, if you need a wakeup call to fix your life, look (or rather, listen) no further.
