Our list of holidays each year might just be increased after a lawmaker filed a bill that will declare March 28, the President's birthday, as an official holiday.

House Representative Florida Robes from San Jose del Monte City filed House Bill No. 5377 that seeks to declare said date as President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Day, the Inquirer reports.

The bill enjoins the Filipino nation, youth and all nationalistic organizations to show their love and pride for the country during the holiday.

According to Robles, March 28 will serve as a reminder of the great changes that the Philippines has underwent since the President came into power.

“He has reshaped Philippine society at its very core, allowing new beliefs and new patriotic passions to form. His methods are the alternative ways to execute the long overdue and badly needed reformation, upliftment, and strengthening of our Republic,” she said.


However, don’t get your hopes too high. The proposal only seeks to make March 28 a special working holiday which means there will still be regular work and classes.
