Go Behind-The-Scenes At Rachel Anne Daquis' FHM Cover Shoot

To showcase another side of her, we did it sans the volleyball—a win-win situation nonetheless

From the time we first rubbed elbows with this volleyball stunner for her FHM October 2014 cover stint, we knew it was the start of an interesting collaboration. Sports and a woman good at it; you can't go wrong with that.

The following year, Rachel Anne Daquis spiked her way to the FHM 100 Sexiest list as a newbie, ranking eighth among other celebrities, and was the only athlete in the Top 50 tier. To show her gratitude to her fans, Rachel took the Sexiest runway in July of the same year. Just in a bikini, sneakers, and carrying a volleyball, she turned heads and gave the attendees something to remember.

Needless to say, she really knows how to get a crowd all pumped up—inside and outside of the court.

And here we are now, roughly two years since we first met, RAD does it again as this month's Cover Girl:

Inviting her for a sophomore outing didn't exactly come easy, considering topping Rachel's first cover stint would really be a challenge. But as competitiveness go, she knows her role in this feat. The goal was not only to make it good, but to make it different and better than the last.

"Let's stick with sexy and sporty," said Rachel during our pre-prod. But to showcase another side of her, we did it sans the volleyball. "This will be a perfect time to do the cover, ongoing ang 100 Sexiest voting," she quipped, telling the FHM team that it would be an honor to be included in the list again. Rachel put us in a win-win situation, we must say. This girl indeed knows how to play the game.

This comeback not only features Rachel (and her assets: abs and legs for daaaays!) on a dusky day at Kawayan Cove in Nasugbu, Batangas, but also arguably her most revealing interview yet, where she discusses the rejections she faced in her chosen sport, her presumptive career in showbiz, and her plans after her volleyball run.

This issue is a testament that there is still more to know (and see) about our favorite volleybelle, but you should also check these other great reads while you're at it: a one-on-one with internationally acclaimed filmmaker Brillante Mendoza; a session on love and sawi with Bullet Dumas; a (visual) getaway with model and babe Rayane, brain tricks and tips from memory masters, and a trip down history lane with young martyrs, among others.
