If you've been watching the news lately, you know that it's been a rough couple of days not only for Pinoys, but for mankind as a whole.
Things are bad enough as it is, and then a disaster happens... So can you blame us for thinking twice about leaving our house ever again? It's like Mother Nature's testing our patience!
And that one isn't even front page material. The six unfortunate incidents you're about to witness below are the real clinchers, and they all took place in the past week alone. Want to know why we'd very much prefer to stay indoors for now? Here's why:
...Because in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a series of underground gas explosions killed at least 25 people and injured 267 last Thursday, July 31. Time reports that the explosions were caused by a propane leak—a petrochemical material that is not intended for public use—that came from a warehouse. In addition to that, about 12,000 people lost power due to the blast and more than 23,000 lost their gas services. Pfft!
...Because in Yunnan, China, at least 367 people were killed and some 1,300 injured by a magnitude 6.1 earthquake yesterday, August 4. According to BBC News, at least 12,000 houses were destroyed, with another 30,000 seriously damaged. "All the houses were destroyed when we arrived," explains Chen Wangwang, head of Ludian Country Hospital. "Dead bodies were everywhere and there were a lot of injured people."
