RIP Papadom: Tropical Depression Classics To Sing In Heaven

The legendary local reggae hero has passed on. FHM pays tribute!

Papadom, the vocalist of one of the country's pillars in reggae music, Tropical Depression, passed away today, December 18. reports that the 47-year-old singer died of kidney failure. He died just a day before his 48th birthday, leaving behind his wife and two sons. The family has requested for privacy in the meantime, and will release an official statement soon.

Apart from Tropical Depression, Dominic "Papadom" Gamboa was also the singer of the '80s punk band Betrayed, and was also the head of an events company called Rebel Lion Entertainment.

In light of the news, a report from offered a positive quote from the enlightened Papadom himself regarding what success means to him:

“I don’t measure success as having landed a major record deal or having appeared in countless TV shows or the money we make from gigs. Success for me is hearing how my songs have inspired or touched other peoples’ lives. To have delivered the message across to as many people possible is what being successful means to me.”
