Grab driver, who was once lauded for his extraordinary kindness to his passengers, was killed by a customer who turned out to be a carjacker in disguise.

Authorities identified the victim as Gerardo Maquidato, Jr. who was shot dead in Pasay City on Thursday evening. The suspect, meanwhile, fled with Maquidato’s silver Toyota Innova (YV 7109) after killing the victim.

Grab, for its part, issued an official statement that said they were already working with the police to resolve the case while also studying ways to improve the safety of their driver-partners.

Grab Philippines country head Brian Cu also offered a P100,000 bounty to anyone who has information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.

About a year ago, Maquidato went viral on social media for giving a free ride to his passenger who was undergoing dialysis.

His simple act of kindness and generosity was not forgotten by the Grab community, who expressed sadness over his untimely death.
