We all have been to and heard of Route 196, that particular joint in Katipunan Avenue known for pioneering the greatest bands, famous and up-and-comers alike, sometimes all in one night.
With countless weekender mentions, a slew of amazing genre nights, and a legion of barkadas looking for a musical down time, it remains to be one of the most sought upon spots in Quezon City since its inception in 2006.
Here’s the good news: the bar is celebrating its 4th anniversary today, October 18, which is why tonight all roads lead to Route 196 – courtesy of a mean line-up of bands scheduled to perform for all in attendance absolutely free.
The Route 196 Anniversary: Four the Road will feature The Vulture Club, Rocket Mama, Brigada, and the Radioactive Sago Project in tonight’s line-up, kicking off at 9 in the evening.
Juan Pablo Dream and Turbo Goth – whose vocalist is FHM babe Sarah Gaugler – will also play ‘til the wee hours of the night, so better pull an all-nighter to catch all these bands perform live.
And while you’re at it, do come early as well so you can avail of the bar’s special happy hour promo. Beer buckets will only come at P196 from 6pm all the way ‘til 9pm. Awesome bands aside, those 28-peso bottles are actually the real come-on here.
We know Mondays ain’t really the ideal gimik night, but for those who frequent that side of the city, stopping by at Route 196 is as customary as coming home. Heck, people will sleep there if they have the choice.
So do head out to 196 Katipunan Avenue for the sake of live music, beer, friends, and just for tonight, the venue itself.
