Eight justices, namely Teresita de Castro, Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Francis Jardeleza, Samuel Martires, Noel Tijam, Andres Reyes, and Alexander Gesmundo were in favor of Solicitor General Jose Calida's quo warranto petition, on grounds of Sereno's failure to file her ten-year Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth before applying for the post in 2012.
On the other hand, Antonio Carpio, Associate Justices Presbitero Velasco, Mariano Del Castillo, Estela Perlas-Bernabe, Marvic Leonen, and Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa voted to dismiss the petition to impeach the youngest CJ in Philippine history, whom President Rodrigo Duterte declared his "enemy" earlier last month. Sereno has 10 days to make plea, although the decision is "immediately executory," according to the SC.
