The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has finally started the Light Rail Transit-1 Cavite extension project as part of the Duterte administration’s “Build, build, build” program.

During its groundbreaking ceremony, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said the key to completing this project in a timely manner is through a good partnership between the government and the private sector.

“Mobility and connectivity are the platforms upon which you can be assured of development and growth in any nation. The realization of this project establishes that connectivity,” he said.

Once completed, the LRT-1 Cavite extension will service an estimated 410,000 passengers daily by linking the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas and Bacoor, Cavite to the heart of Metro Manila.

The 8 stations will be located at:
-Asia World
-Ninoy Aquino
-Dr. Santos
-Las Piñas
-Zapote Las
-Niog in Bacoor, Cavite

The 11-kilometer railway extension alignment project is scheduled to be completed by 2021.

Aside from this, the DOTr will also work on the Southwest Integrated Transport System terminal in Paranaque, which will be linked to the LRT-1 Cavite extension.
