A new ATM skimming scheme has been discovered by authorities after they arrested a 29-year-old foreigner who was committing the crime earlier this month.

Hungarian national Robert Pab was caught by bank security personnel after attempting to plant a skimming device inside an ATM machine in Bonifacio Global City, ABS-CBN reported.

The new ATM skimming scheme is similar to the old modus operandi except that the skimming device is now planted inside the ATMs to prevent detection.

Recovered from the suspect were an ATM skimming device, an ATM chip, fake credit cards and a key to the ATM machine.

Last month, the suspect was also caught on CCTV footage with two locals doing the same modus operandi in a bank located in Cebu City.

The bank management, meanwhile, does not discount the possibility of an inside job. Due to this, they plan to add more security features to their ATM machines to prevent similar incidents.
