It’s already Thursday and tomorrow’s apparently a special non-working day in Metro Manila due to the ASEAN Summit, but there’s a bit of confusion regarding the pay rules.
This is mainly due to the three separate announcements made by the government this week.
To clarify, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) initially issued Labor Advisory No. 4 on Monday, which stated the following:
This advisory specifically mentioned that there will be no premium pay for employees who report to work on April 28.
However, the Palace issued Proclamation No. 197 on Tuesday, which was signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
This prompted the DOLE to issue an update on Labor Advisory No. 4 after the Proclamation, which now states that employees who work on April 28 will receive a premium rate.
As for getting paid (or not) for not reporting to work this Friday, that will depend on your company, so the best thing to do is ask your HR department.
