Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has once again challenged Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte to sign a bank waiver this Monday to disprove his new claim that the mayor’s bank accounts has transfers worth billions of pesos.

In an interview with GMA’s Unang Balita, Trillanes said it was high time for the tough-talking mayor to walk the talk and accept his challenge.

Nagbigay po ako sa kanya ng hamon. Once and for all para malaman natin kung totoong may P2.4 billion siya o wala,” he said.

Trillanes added that Duterte’s alleged bank transactions amounting to P2.4 billion were recorded from 2009 to 2011.

He even said that he would withdraw his vice presidential candidacy and resign from the Senate if Duterte could prove his allegations were wrong.

Hindi ako mawawala sa buhay niya. Mawawala lang ako pag na-prove niya na mali ako at yun ora mismo magreresign ako sa Senate.” he said.

Trillanes first challenged Duterte to sign a bank waiver on Thursday to prove that he did not have P211 million stashed in a Bank of the Philippine Islands branch in Pasig City.

Duterte for his part denied the existence of the bank account and labeled Trillanes’ claims as “fabricated.”

However, he backtracked and admitted to owning some accounts with BPI after proof was posted online and went viral.

Still, Duterte maintained that the amount kept in the accounts was only hundreds of thousands of pesos and not over P211 million like Trillanes claims.
