We all thought that our Christmas and New Year celebrations were going to be cut short this year after looking at the calendar and learning that both of the days after these holidays fall on a Monday.
Fortunately for us, Malacañang just declared December 26 and January 2 as special non-working days.
In Proclamation No. 117, acting Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra no work for these days throughout the country.
According to Guevarra, this move “will give the people full opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones.”
He added that “a longer weekend promotes domestic tourism and enables employers to plan their work schedules effectively and efficiently, resulting in improved productivity.”
Gee, Malacañang, thanks for your concern. Have great long weekends during the holidays, everyone!
