With Potterheads doing everything to carry on the legacy of the beloved franchise (e.g. Warner Bros-approved fan film Voldemort: Origins of the Heir), Filipino diehards just won't let themselves miss out on the party.
A certain Macoy Averilla, who seems to be well-versed in both the movie series and Philippine showbiz, was probably bored at work one day when he asked himself: "What if Pinoys played Harry Potter characters?"
In a series of tweets, he suggested local counterparts who could play different characters in an imaginary Pinoy adaptation of J.K. Rowling's novels. The result was a debatable yet hilarious creative pitch.
He even went as far as covering popular magical objects and places. Some of his recommendations will give you an idea of how hard it would be to stage a PH version of HP.
Although the best part of the whole thing is the near-perfect casting, which was based on either looks or personality (and for some, their reputation).
He wasn't able to please everyone, but Averilla's choices were mostly on-point. Name a better local actor to play Rubeus Hagrid than Jimmy Santos. We'll wait.
Seriously, someone needs to fund this! Check out the full album:
