What’s a beautiful lady like you up to?
I’m originally from St. Petersburg, and I’m a professional dancer and freelance model.

When did you move here to the Philippines?
Actually I’ve been around Asia. Then about three or four years ago, I came to work at Resorts World Manila.

A lot of people assume that Russians like vodka but you prefer wine. Why is that?
Actually, it’s a mistake about Russians. Some people think that if you’re from Russia, you love snow, being naked in minus 30-degree weather is normal, and you can drink vodka 24 hours a day. It’s not true.

There’s another stereotype that you’re very serious people. But we can see that you’re not.
I’m very comfortable expressing myself because people here are friendly. Russian people are colder. They aren’t quick to trust.

Do you think that Filipino friendliness is rubbing off on you considering your time here?
When I went home to Russia to visit my family, they were, like, “Elena, what’s wrong with you?” Because I’d say “Thank you!” to every person who’d do small things for me. Very nice, very smiley. I was a little bit changed.
