If you attend car shows every now and then, chances are, you might have already seen Chello Canlas. She's modeled in several major car shows that she’s now a regular fixture in them.
This time however we managed to borrow Chello from her normal routine to make her this month's FHM #NewCrush!
Now for those asking, Chello isn’t really her name. It’s Rochelle. She says that she got the name Chello from her friend.
“My friend was trying to hand me something,” remembers Chello, “she kept repeating Chelle oh, Chelle oh while she was calling out to me. At the same time, we were hanging out with another friend who I just met back then and didn’t know my name yet. He then said, Ahhh yun pala name mo." That’s where her nickname came from.
She has been posing in front of cameras for almost two years, but before that, Chello was very much into her first love: singing. “I’ve had gigs before in Subic, mostly in Korean restaurants,” says Chello. “I play mostly acoustic songs that are calming but I can also hit the high notes when the opportunity needs it.”
Chello never thought of modeling before, she was just urged by her friends, who noticed her potential during her gigs.
“There was one photographer that noticed me and told me that I should try modeling,” she shares. “He was also my former classmate in grade school and he decided to take me as a model. That gave me a lot of exposure. Shortly after I joined a fashion show and that’s where it all started.”
Chello hasn’t completely given up on singing though as she still performs from time to time, mostly for companies. “I provide easy listening music during events such as product launches and openings,” she reveals. “Also, whenever I go out with my friends to resto-bars that have bands I sometimes join them.”
Chello also took up dancing for a while, telling us that she used to teach belly dancing to children at the orphanages . “I was just urged by my friends back then to join. Nakakataba ng puso yun kasi in a simple way nakatulong ako sa kanila.”
But right now, modeling is her number one priority. She spends her time on the weekdays searching for upcoming events. “My schedule really depends on whether I have an event or not. I look for them on Facebook.”
Now you might be probably thinking that being a model, Chello also goes for guys with good looks and toned bodies to match them. But she reveals that this isn’t true. “I like guys who are tall, chinito, and with a really big belly!” She admits though that in order to truly please her, a guy must be a gentleman and loyal.
“Sabi nila mataray ako tingnan!” she says. “It has something to do with my eyes daw pero hindi naman. Lapitan ninyo lang ako kasi friendly naman talaga ako.”
“Ayoko lang yung mga mahinhin at boring na tao. Madaldal kasi ako.”
There you have it. Just (respectfully) approach her during car shows and she’ll be happy to entertain you. Now, if you’d like to know other stuff about Chello, here's her FHM Slumbook entry (click on the image to view a bigger version):
