Shakira was right...the hips indeed do not lie.
Since the beginning of time, men have been fascinated by the fluid movements of a dancer's hips. There's a reason why Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez continue to make our world go round, and that songs like "Anaconda" and "Booty" continue to rule the charts. Why do guys go bonkers for things that shake? Do you really need an answer?
But if you really need an answer, here's Saicy Aguila, who obviously knows a thing or two about hip-shaking. “Hindi ko rin alam eh. I never thought of dancing to seduce a guy.” Saicy tells us. “Kapag sumasayaw kasi ako, ibang Saicy na talaga yung lumalabas.”
That's not quite the answer we were looking for, but it doesn't matter. Guess we're going to have to accept the fact that some things aren't meant to be explained. And besides, do you really want to discuss this further rather than ogle Saicy? We thought so.
It’s been three years, Saicy! How've you been?
Yes, three years na siguro since nung last. I was really stiff during the first layout, limited yung projections ko, but thankfully I felt at ease and lumabas yung totoong ako as the shoot went on.
You didn't show any signs of rust.
Kapag tuloy-tuloy na kasi siya, you get the flow na.
What's keeping you busy nowadays?
I still dance pa rin naman. More on shows ako ngayon sa provinces, guesting sa It’s Showtime, mostly sa ABS-CBN.
You're obviously a phenomenal dancer, but do you sing as well?
Ako gusto kong maging J.Lo! Parehas kasi kami na Latin yung genre. I’m used to doing ballroom and Latin dances so hindi ako mahihipan. I tried singing and dancing din before, I can say keri naman. When I do shows, more on dancing siya, but I also mix some singing din lalo na kapag medyo pagod na ako.
What are your go-to songs?
“Dance Again,” “We Found Love,” upbeat and dance-y songs pa rin.
Most dancers have big calves. How come you don't?
Required kasi talaga mag-heels everytime you perform. I danced in heels doon. Ngayon, since more of sexy hip-hop na yung mga numbers ko, hindi na ako masyado naka-heels, more on boots na.
Do you still get stage fright?
Every time I step onto a stage, it’s always present. But once I start performing na, nawawala na siya, until hindi mo na siya maramdaman. Maybe because I’m starting to enjoy what I’m doing na, kusa na siyang lumalabas.
You do a lot of leg splits in your shows. Have you experienced any wardrobe malfunctions?
Fortunately, I've never experienced it. Sana huwag naman. Ha ha! I’m cautious din kasi. For example, if I need to wear short shorts, I make sure that I wear cycling shorts underneath para hindi ako makitaan. I always make sure na mako-cover lahat hanggang matapos yung performance.
How can you even breathe?
Wala talagang labasan.
Start saving up, Jinjas!
